The “night scene of Kagurazaka” is one of the charms of the town, and has contributed much to the attractive aspects of the cultural scenes. You will be able to enjoy the traditional performing arts at stylish restaurants, as you walk through the streets when the stone-paved alleys and black-board walls become alluring in the evening. It is an event that offers Kagurazaka’s charm that only can be experienced at night.

Johana Folk Performance Ioriuta Music on the Streets in Kagurazaka

In Johana of Nanto City(Toyama prefecture), a traditional festival (designated as Important Intangible Cultural Property) called “Hikiyama Matsuri” is being held for 300 years. In the floats featured in this festival are groups playing flutes and shamisen; their music called “iori-uta” comes from the Edo period and is specific to the Johana area.
